Shalini Passi gained widespread recognition after her memorable appearance on the Netflix series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Known for her elegance, charitable work, and high-profile social status in Delhi, she captured the public’s attention with her larger-than-life personality and fashionable wardrobe.
However, one lesser-known fact is that her wedding invitations were designed by the legendary artist M.F. Hussain. Shalini shared that it was her in-laws who approached Hussain to design the cards. He agreed, but on the condition that he first meet the bride. Upon meeting Shalini, Hussain felt a deep connection and famously remarked that they resembled the divine couple, Radha and Krishna. Shalini explained, “Hussain sahab was very close to my husband’s family. They asked him to create the wedding invitations, and he said, ‘First, I’ll see the bride, and then I’ll paint.’ After meeting me, he said, ‘This is a Radha-Krishna jodi,’ and he created four beautiful wedding cards—one for the Mata Ki Chowki, one for the sangeet, one for the wedding, and one for the reception.”
Shalini also opened up about her personal life, revealing that she was only 20 years old when she married Sanjay Passi. A year later, she gave birth to their first child, Robin, and noted that she grew up alongside him. She added that it was Sanjay’s sisters who first approached her when she was attending a friend’s wedding.
Now 49, Shalini maintains a disciplined diet and daily regimen to stay in top shape, explaining that she aims to “keep up with her team of 20-somethings.”
In an exclusive interview with Money Control, Shalini Passi expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support she’s received and revealed one of her biggest fears before the show’s global release. When asked about how she is adjusting to her newfound fame, she shared that the outpouring of love from fans has been emotional and humbling.
“I never imagined this kind of attention. On social media, Twitter, Instagram, and even platforms I’m not on, I keep receiving updates, and it’s incredible. I just want to remain grounded. The most rewarding part is that so many people are inspired by me, which means a lot. I’m genuinely happy about that,” she said in a candid conversation from her home in Delhi.
